NORWAY — Western Maine Obstetrics and Gynecology will host a CenteringPregnancy class on prenatal care from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, in the Harper Conference Center in the Ripley Medical Office Building, 193 Main St.

CenteringPregnancy brings eight to 10 women together with similar due dates for their health care. Members often form lasting friendships and are connected in ways not possible in traditional care. This meeting will help introduce this concept to the community and answer any questions or concerns.

The group follows the recommended schedule of 10 prenatal visits, of which six are centering visits 90 minutes to two hours long. This gives women 10 times more time with their providers. The women engage in their care by taking their own weight and blood pressure and recording their own health data. This includes private time with the provider for a belly check and to address personal concerns.

The class is free, but registration is required.
