1959 – 2016

LEWISTON — Sheila A. Olson, 57, of Upper Street, Turner, died Monday, Sept. 12, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, with her loving family at her side after a long illness.

She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Aug. 25, 1959, a daughter of the late F. Henry and Rita (Letourneau) Sabourin. She was educated in Lewiston and graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of 1977. She then went on to graduate from the University of Maine at Augusta.

Sheila married her husband, Danny Olson, on July 2, 1977, and together they raised their two children. She worked for the past many years at Geiger, retiring as VP of Operations just a few weeks ago due to her health. She was a member of the Lions Club in younger years and she enjoyed camping, word searches, puzzles, music, her flowers and going to the beach. Her true loves were her two grandsons.

She leaves her husband of 39 years, Danny of Turner; her two children, Chrissy Peyton and husband, Jon, of Gorham, and Jacob Olson of Turner; a brother, Fernand “Skip” Sabourin and his wife, Abby, of Lewiston; her two grandsons, Dean and Dominic Peyton; her mother-in-law, Betty Olson of Florida; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, who were all very dear to her.

She was predeceased by a brother, Jerome Sabourin; and a sister, Suzanne Davie.
