LEWISTON – The Maine Centers for Women, Work and Community is offering free training opportunities aimed at assisting people looking for employment or for ways to strengthen their positions in the workplace.

Career Exploration: A four-week “Career Exploration” training session will be held on Wednesdays, Sept. 24, Oct. 1, 8, and 15 from 5:30-8 p.m. Participants will review skills, interests and experiences, and relate them to career options, identify educational and training opportunities, and develop a step-by-step plan to achieve career goals. Self-esteem: Classes offers tools needed to challenge old destructive beliefs and nourish positive thoughts and feelings. This five-week “Self-Esteem” training course will take place on Thursdays Oct. 23, 30, Nov. 6, 13 and 20 from 5:30-8 p.m. Call Laurie McDonnell at 753-6612.

Self-employment workshop: A three-hour workshop for anyone interested in starting a business is being offered on Thursday, Oct. 2. Pre-registration is required. From 9 a.m. to noon. Call Shirley Hamilton at 753-6505.

Starting a business: The class covers the basics of a business plan, marketing, and cash planning. This is a three-day workshop. Pre-registration is required. Training will be held on Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon on Oct. 16, 23, 30. Call Shirley Hamilton at 753-6505.
