1966 – 2016

WINTHROP — Christopher William “Vinnie” Caprara, 50, passed away at his childhood home, Monday, Oct. 10, due to complications following a recent surgery. Chris was surrounded by family at his passing.

Christopher was born in New York, N.Y., on April 21, 1966, the son of Victor and Carol (Nole) Caprara. Chris moved from Riverdale, N.Y., with his family at the age of 6 and resided in Winthrop most of his life. He graduated from Winthrop High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in business at Saint Anselm College. There, he met the love of his life, Linda (Stevens) Caprara, and they were married Aug. 21, 1993. Chris and Linda were together over 30 amazing years.

A loving son, brother, husband and father, Chris valued family above all else. On Feb. 22, 2004, Chris and Linda’s family was complete with the arrival of their beautiful baby girl, Cayla Rose. She is the greatest blessing and joy of Chris’ life.

Chris was an entrepreneur at heart. He worked diligently to build C. Caprara Food Service Equipment to become a successful local Maine business with his brother, Carl, and his parents.

In work and in his personal life, Chris was a man of generosity who supported others along the way. Chris gave of his time and his resources to those in need.

Chris was an avid outdoorsman and took great interest in hunting and fishing with those who were close to him. Chris took special pride in his small farm, spending hours with Linda and Cayla tending to the sheep and the cows. Chris understood that happiness was found in living simply and fully.

Many memories will be cherished from times spent with family and great friends at home, at camp and on the golf course.

Chris is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, Cayla; parents, Victor and Carol Caprara; siblings, Carl and wife, Jodi Caprara, Victoria (Caprara) Scott and husband, William, and Nicole Caprara; mother-in-law, Margaret Stevens; sisters-in-law, Donna Fialkievicz and husband, Joe and Sue Lombardi and husband, Michael; nephews and nieces, Ben, Jack and Hanna Caprara, Vincent, Vita, and Rocco Scott, Ben Fialkievicz, Michael and Angela Lombardi; and many special friends.

Chris was predeceased by his grandparents, William and Teresa Caprara, Nicholas and Angela Nole; and father-in-law, Donald Stevens.
