WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Lumber and Building Materials Dealer Association has announced that Hammond Lumber Co. in Auburn, Farmington and Skowhegan have won the third annual National Achievement in Safety Award for achievement in overall workplace safety. The award will be recognized during the welcome reception at NLBMDA’s 2008 legislative conference in Washington, D.C., on March 31.
In 2006, Hammond Lumber had outstanding safety rates in the areas of employee injuries and illnesses, employee days away from work, restricted work activity, and job transfer due to injury or illness. The company also demonstrated it maintains several safety practices that improve overall workplace safety, resulting in no fatalities or OSHA citations.
Only 24 lumber and building material dealers from across the country received the award.
