Update: Injured drivers, passengers identified in Oxford head-on collision
OXFORD — Two people had to be extricated from their vehicles Wednesday afternoon following a head-on crash on Skeetfield Road.
Police and emergency crews were sent to the scene at about 5 p.m. Early reports were that two people were trapped and a total of three were injured in the wreck.
Police closed both ends of the road, where it connects on one end with Route 26 and the other end with Route 121. The road remained closed hours later as police investigated and cleanup got underway.
The crash was reported near a home at 280 Skeetfield Road, where the two-lane road is slightly curved.
Oxford rescuers called for assistance from Poland Fire and Rescue to help at the scene. A LifeFlight helicopter was also called, although it was believed that weather conditions prevented it from flying to the scene.
No further information was available late Wednesday night.
