LEWISTON — The YWCA Central Maine has announced the winter session of the PEACE program. PEACE (Positive Ethnic and Cultural Exchange) is a growing initiative working to build community among women at the YWCA and emphasize cross-cultural exchange.

In October, PEACE offered the Women’s Walking Group, which met weekly for an after-work walk. During the winter months, PEACE will offer twice monthly meet-ups for women around diverse activities, ranging from exercise, crafts, cooking and discussion groups.

The first meeting of the PEACE winter session was on Nov. 17. Participants met for a “Friends Giving Potluck and Post-Election Conversation.” The evening was an opportunity for women to share food and to have a safe space to share feelings, thoughts or experiences that have arisen after the election.

PEACE will meet the first and third Thursday of the month (except for a special session on Wednesday, Dec. 7) from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the YWCA Central Maine. All women are welcome at PEACE events. Upcoming events include:

Wednesday, Dec. 7: Girl magic group cooking.

Thursday, Dec. 15: Archery demonstration.

Thursday, Jan. 5: New year/new look clothing swap.
