NORWAY — The Board of Selectmen has agreed to table a decision on whether to rename the section of road leading to Granite Ridge Estate and Barn.

Town Manager David Holt said at a meeting Thursday that discussion should be tabled until the spring.

Joan E. Hill of 63 Delano Drive submitted a letter to selectmen at their Dec. 1 meeting, asking that the 0.3-mile section of road leading to Granite Ridge Estate and Barn be renamed.

Granite Ridge Estate and Barn is at 65 Delano Drive, which is at the end of the road.

Hill said that last month, someone called 911 and requested a wrecker at Granite Ridge, and they “went all through the neighborhood, going up wrong driveways and looking for the correct address.”

The confusion stems from how the section of road that leads to Granite Ridge takes a sharp right and appears to be a road separate from Delano Drive.

Code Enforcement Officer Joelle Corey-Whitman said Friday that postponing the discussion was “just a matter of the two owners coming together on an agreement.”

“The Granite Ridge Estate and Barn has a proposal for a new road, but they haven’t finalized the new road through a site plan review yet,” Corey-Whitman said. “Joan is not opposed to waiting until the spring to see how the new road for the wedding barn shakes out.”

Corey-Whitman said that if the new road were constructed for the wedding barn, “the address on their letterhead would change anyway.”

“The idea is to wait until the spring to see how that all plays out, and the board can figure it out from there,” she said.
