LEWISTON – Registered nurse Bourne Rigano has been appointed clinical services manager for Beacon Hospice Inc. The business provides end-of-life care to the local community out of its office at 55 Lisbon St.
Rigano supervises a full team of highly qualified care professionals, including nurses, social workers, home health aides, a chaplain, volunteer coordinator and bereavement coordinator.In that role, Rigano works with his team and patients’ families, as well as physicians and community services, to identify the care needs for Beacon Hospice’s patients in Lewiston/Auburn and the surrounding areas, including Fryeburg, Bridgton and Norway-Paris.
As a 2001 graduate of Central Maine Medical Center’s School of Nursing, Rigano started his career working as a nurse in local hospitals in the pediatrics ward, general medical surgical, and intensive care units. He first discovered his calling for hospice care when he became involved in a death and dying committee at the hospital. Rigano then served as a staff nurse for an in-patient hospice facility before joining Beacon Hospice as a staff nurse in October 2006.
Beacon Hospice Inc. was established in 1995 to serve the needs of terminally ill patients. In addition to its Lewiston office, Beacon Hospice also serves Maine residents out of its York, Portland and Augusta locations.
