AUBURN – City and company officials were on hand April 24 at the groundbreaking ceremony of World Harbors, creators of affordable gourmet sauces and marinades, located at 176 First Flight Drive. The expansion plan is valued at around $3 million and parallels the company’s commitment to helping to strengthen Maine’s economy.
Using primarily Maine-based companies to accomplish the expansion, World Harbors’ growth includes adding 20,000 square feet of warehouse space and redesigning the production area so that they will have the ability to package new types of planned products, in different types of packaging and more quickly. The development is expected to create five jobs at the facility.
World Harbors manufactures more than 18 World Harbors® sauces and marinades, as well as four Angostura Sauces and the Angostura Drink Mixers line of products, which are distributed nationwide and in select international markets. The company is also the North American marketer and distributor for Angostura’s Aromatic Bitters. The company not only distributes its product all over the United States, but also sells to customers in Canada, Mexico, Europe, China and India.
World Harbors, Inc. is a division of Trinidad based Angostura International Limited, founded in 1990 and headquartered in Auburn. The company’s state-of-the-art production facility continues to expand production, with more than 5 million units produced in 2005. For more information, visit www.worldharbors.com.
