Beekeepers to meet
MEXICO — The Western Maine Beekeepers Association will present a slide show and talk by State Apiarist Tony Jadczak on getting hives ready for winter from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at Region 9 School, Route 2.
Beekeepers need to properly prepare their hives for winter to ensure survival. The class will cover the latest treatments for mites and tips and techniques for getting hives through the winter.

Trailblazer meeting
MEXICO — The Mexico Trailblazers will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, downstairs at the Mexico Town Hall.
Rec open house
RUMFORD — An open house will be held for recreation and competition gymnastics from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, at the Greater Rumford Community Center, 50 Congress St.
The event is open to anyone, ages 2 to adults, interested in gymnastic and tumbling classes for recreation or competition. Those who cannot attend the open house should call Louanne at 369-9906 to register for the September classes.
Society to meet
PERU — The Peru Historical Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, at the Rockemeka Grange Hall.
Class luncheon
RUMFORD — The Stephens High School Class of 1955 will meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, for lunch at the Route 2 Diner.
