PORTLAND – Michael A. “Mick” Kuhns has joined Dragon Cement and Concrete as the environmental manager. He will be responsible for overseeing environmental compliance and energy conservation.

Dragon operates the only cement manufacturing facility in New England in Thomaston and is the largest supplier of ready-mix concrete in Maine.

Kuhns, who has more than 20 years of experience in the environmental field, will be based in both the company’s Thomaston plant and the corporate offices in Portland. He most recently served in a similar capacity for Irving Tanning of Hartland. Kuhns is a member of the Association of Energy Engineers.

A Mount Vernon resident, Kuhns serves as pastor of Faith Christian Fellowship in New Sharon. He received a master’s degree in environmental engineering in 1985 from the University of Iowa, and holds undergraduate degrees from both the University of Maine (1983) and Ohio Wesleyan University (1980).
