FARMINGTON – Shelly Barry has been appointed practice administrator for Franklin Orthopedics according to Tom Hagerstrom, FMH human resources director.

Franklin Orthopedics in Farmington provides a full-range of orthopedic services as well as joint reconstruction, sports medicine, and physical therapy and rehabilitation services. The practice’s lead orthopedic surgeon is Dr. Nancy Cummings.

Barry will be responsible for day-to-day operations of the practice including staffing, budgeting, staff supervision, and practice evaluation.

“My priority coming into this position is to grow the practice,” Barry said. “We’ll add more permanent physicians, yet at the same time manage efficiency, productivity, and profitability in the practice.”

Barry has more than 27 years of experience in the medical field, primarily in an administrative or consulting role for multiple specialties.

Most recently she served as a consultant for Southwest Orthopedic Specialists in Oklahoma, Ok., facilitating a computer conversion for the practice as well as developing practice policies and procedures.

Before that Barry was a practice administrator at Baystate OB/GYN in Springfield, Ma., where she oversaw business and clinical operations for a nine-physician practice.

Barry resides in Farmington with her husband David. Originally from Rhode Island, Barry said she spent summers in Maine as a child and is happy to be back. Franklin Orthopedics is at 105 Mt. Blue Circle, off routes 2 and 4.
