LEWISTON – Local pulmonologist Dr. Alan S. Glann of Central Maine Pulmonary Associates and the St. Mary’s Sleep Disorders Center was recently board certified in sleep medicine.

The certification, granted by the American Board of Sleep Medicine, is attained after considerable studies and testing. Glann is the second local physician to earn the national designation.

The American Board of Sleep Medicine is an independent organization developed for the purpose of establishing and maintaining standards of excellence in sleep medicine.

He received his undergraduate education from St. Mary’s University and his medical degree from UTMB in Galveston, Texas. He was in private pulmonary practice in Durango, Colo., for 12 years before joining Central Maine Pulmonary Associates.

In addition to board certification in sleep medicine, Glann holds certifications in critical care medicine, pulmonary disease, and internal medicine.
