AUBURN – Anne Walker, principal of Core Concepts, a training and facilitation consulting company, will be the keynote speaker at Central Maine Community College’s second annual Supervisors Conference from 8:30 a.m. until
4:30 p.m. Sept. 24.
The Conference, presented by the Corporate and Community Services Department of Central Maine Community College, will also feature breakout sessions in the areas of communication, problem solving, coaching and conflict management.
The conference will conclude with a presentation on mastering change.
The fee for the Conference is $145, or $165 for registration after Aug. 26, and it includes materials and lunch.
Walker will address the topic “What Is A Leader?” Using the growth model of leadership, she will discuss inspirational leadership as a means of developing and motivating employees. “Anyone can manage tasks or functions but not all people can lead. Leadership takes the ability to be human, not using power, influence or money,” Walker said.
“If we as leaders make a sincere commitment to extend ourselves to those we lead and align our actions, thoughts and deeds, mutual respect and admiration will follow. This for me is what it takes to be an inspirational leader. It’s easier said than done but not impossible.”
Walker has trained hundreds of professionals in creative problem solving, situational leadership, team building, quality improvement and strategic planning. Anne has worked extensively with both private and public sectors throughout New England to assist teams in reaching their maximum potential.
Her clients include the National Weather Service, the U.S. Department of Defense, General Dynamics Corp. and the Environmental Protection Agency and a variety of state and local government agencies.
