YARMOUTH – Todd W. Miller has been appointed executive director of the Maine chapter of the Coastal Conservation Association.

A lifelong saltwater sport fisherman, he has more than 10 years of experience in the marketing field. Since moving to Maine in 1994, he has worked for Sunday River Skiway, American Skiing Co. and, most recently, for Pierce Promotions and Event Management, a Radiate/Omnicom Agency.

CCA Maine is a leading saltwater fisheries conservation organization. Recent activities include removal of the Smelt Hill Dam on the Presumpscot River, advocating for the continued rebuilding of the striped bass population, efforts to expand access to coastal shore fishing opportunities and boat launching facilities, and representing the interests of saltwater anglers on state and federal regulatory advisory boards.

Miller graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a bachelor of arts degree in speech communication while concentrating in environmental management and marketing. He lives in Durham with his wife, Patrice, and his 4-month-old son, Evan.

Finance workshop offered

AUBURN – The Small Business Institute at Central Maine Community College is offering a workshop for small business owners titled The Basics of Finance from 1 to 4 p.m. Sept. 7 and Sept. 14. The cost of the six-hour workshop is $95.

The workshop is targeted for business owners who have little or no experience with financial concepts or statements. Participants will learn the core concepts of finance and accounting as it relates to the needs of a small business. Howard Herodes of Herodes Financial will be presenting the workshop.
