Scout meeting

AUBURN — Girl Scouts of Maine will host a parent information and registration meeting from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at the United Methodist Church of Auburn, 439 Park Ave. Those attending may find out about ways girls and adult volunteers can participate in Girl Scouts. Hands on activities will include an obstacle course, bead station and s’mores.

Irish set dancing

LEWISTON — Irish set and country dancing classes will start Tuesday, Sept. 15. Classes will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. every Tuesday at the Holy Family Church
hall, Sabattus Street. Dances are done to jigs and reels in well-paced atmosphere. Cost is only $3 a class. No dance experience or partner is needed and all are welcome to observe a class or join in a complimentary lesson. For more information call 933-9761.

POLAND — Friends of Ricker Library are planning a series of monthly
Sunday evening programs and potluck suppers. The project,
Person-to-Person, will incorporate a meal, conversation with Poland
neighbors and a short program with a Poland slant. All are welcome to
attend, including children.

The first supper will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13.
Guests are asked to bring a casserole and a salad or dessert for the
table. John Weinrich, an interpretive and vice president of the
Mid-coast chapter of the National Audubon Society, will present a
program on backyard birds.

In conjunction with the theme, the Poland Spring Carvers will
display carved birds in the library during September and the Poland
Conservation Commission will display wildlife habitat maps of the
Poland region.

Free screening

LEWISTON — A free prostate cancer screening will be held from 12:30 to
4:00 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at Central Maine Medical Center, 12 High
St., Suite 205 with Drs. Parker and Mailhot, physicians with CMMC
Urology. There will be a free PSA blood test and digital rectal exam
along with a short questionnaire relating to urinary symptoms. To
