ALFRED (AP) – A jury in York County failed to reach a verdict in the trial of a father accused of hindering apprehension of his son following a fatal hit-and-run.

Prosecutors say Gordon Brooks tried to hide his son’s van after Jason Brooks of Saco allegedly struck and killed Deborah Archer in Berwick last May.

Jason Brooks is charged with leaving the scene of an accident. Afterward, he called his father, who picked him up in Somersworth, N.H.

Jurors began deliberating Wednesday. They reconvened Thursday and asked a number of questions before the judge declared a mistrial.
