According to the Web site opensecrets.org, the Stanford Financial Group has donated $2,500 to Sen. Susan Collins of Maine, or to a political action group affiliated with Collins.

Kevin Kelly, a spokesman for Collins, said her office only became aware of the possible donation on Thursday. If Collins received any money from Stanford, he said, it will be donated to charity.
