BUCKSPORT (AP) – A 42-year-old Bucksport man faces charges of criminal solicitation linked to a Web broadcast of the sexual assault of a 6-year-old boy in Michigan.
Investigators say Elmer Stevens was arrested last week based on information relayed by Michigan authorities who raided the location where last year’s webcast originated and rescued two children there.
Sgt. Glenn Lang of the Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit said Stevens was identified as one of the people who had watched the webcast and contacted the Web site expressing interest in such content.
Officials planned to conduct a forensic examination of the laptop computer confiscated from Stevens to determine whether additional charges are warranted.
Stevens has been released on bail and ordered to have no contact with children. His arraignment is set for April 21.
