HOPE (AP) – Maine state police and the Knox County Sheriff’s Department were investigating an apparent homicide Wednesday as authorities said a Hope man had been charged with murder.
Investigators were collecting evidence at two sites in Hope, including a property with a Cape-style home on Pearse Road. They identified the man who was arrested as 23-year-old Steven Pomeroy.
The victim was tentatively identified as 22-year-old Jessica Nichols of Waldoboro.
An autopsy was scheduled Thursday and Pomeroy was slated to make an initial court appearance Thursday morning at 11 a.m. in Knox County Superior Court.
