AUGUSTA (AP) – Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap says a ballot recount in the race for Cumberland County commissioner will get under way Friday.

The recount is being done at the request of Green Independent candidate William Linnell of Portland.

According to Dunlap, Linnell needed at least 100 votes in the June 10 primary to be placed on the November ballot.

The unofficial tally indicated that he received only 39 votes.

The recount has been requested for ballots cast in the county’s first district, which includes Yarmouth, Portland, Long Island, Chebeague Island, Cumberland and Falmouth.
