LEWISTON – Lewiston Republicans and Democrats will each caucus Monday evening to select a candidate to replace former state Rep. William Walcott, D-Lewiston.

Walcott was one of five House members representing part of Lewiston. His district contains most of the downtown. He resigned last month, citing constraints on his time posed by his work outside the Legislature.

Republicans are scheduled to caucus at 7 p.m. at the Lewiston Multi-Purpose Center, 145 Birch St. Democrats plan to caucus at 6 p.m. at U.S. Rep. Michael Michaud’s campaign office at 213 Lisbon St.

The winners of each caucus will face off in the general election Nov. 6.
