The state will welcome comments from the public Tuesday night during the second public meeting to explore recreation at the new park, the Androscoggin Riverlands.
This will be the first time in 25 years that the state is creating a new state park.
The hearing will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. June 30 at the Multi-Purpose Center’s cafeteria, 145 Birch St., Lewiston. The meeting will be hosted by Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands officials.
The meeting is to hear from residents on what uses and development they would like to see allowed in the 2,588-acre park lands along the river in Turner, just north of Lewiston-Auburn.
The meeting will begin with an open house and exhibits, introduction of planners, and an overview of the planning process before public comments are heard.

The Riverlands will include land along eight miles of the river, scenic vistas and an existing trails network. The area already is widely used for land and water recreation, with miles of multi-use and hiking trails.
