ALLAGASH (AP) – A former Wisconsin man has been arrested in connection with a mysterious 911 call in February from what was thought to be a woman who was fearful for her life.

John Parker, 37, who has lived in Allagash for six or seven months, was charged with burglary, filing a false police report and criminal mischief.

Police for weeks have been looking for a woman who led police to believe her life was in danger during a phone call on Feb. 22.

The call sent state police to the home of Collen Nadeau in Allagash, where they found the telephone line had been cut outside the home. They also found a red substance, which police believe may not be blood, on the porch of the home and on snow outside.

Neale Adams, Aroostook County district attorney, said Parker was charged last Thursday with making the 911 call from Nadeau’s house and disguising his voice as a woman’s. When police interviewed Parker, he used a false name, Adams said.

“It’s bizarre,” Adams said. “It’s hard to understand what constitutes the full truth in the case.”

When police received the call, they traced it to Nadeau’s home. “I think he is going to kill me. Could you please get over here. Oh my God, Collen, don’t,” the female voice said before the line went dead.

When police arrived at the house, there was no woman, but police arrested Nadeau on weapons and drug charges. At the time, an investigator said there was a theory that the call may have been made to set up the arrest of Nadeau.

Maine State Trooper Corey Hafford said Parker has been dating Nadeau’s estranged wife.

“We don’t yet know the reasoning behind the call,” Hafford said. “There are several possibilities.

“It’s just been a strange case all around,” he said. “The majority of the time, for the past month, we have been looking for a woman.”

Parker also has a warrant for his arrest from the state of Wisconsin on a parole-probation violation, Adams said.
