KINGFIELD – Selectmen are organizing a committee to see if the town meeting should be moved from the first Saturday in March to another date.
Some concerns were raised about people who work on Saturdays not being able to attend Saturday town meetings, Administrative Assistant Greg Davis said.
When Jack McKee brought a proposal to the board earlier this month, it agreed to form a committee of interested citizens, including McKee.
The proposal calls for the committee to research town meetings in other towns, listen to suggestions and if appropriate, modify the schedule, he said.
Any changes would go to a public hearing and a special town meeting first. The committee could decide to keep the traditional schedule, he said.
Whether a change would increase attendance is uncertain, he said.
Selectmen would like to see more people at the meeting but were pleased when about 150 attended it this year, Davis said.
