RANGELEY – A Rangeley woman faces charges after she left the scene of an accident early Thursday and called a tow truck to get her 2001 Yukon out of the woods, police said.
The woman told the tow truck driver the windshield was broken but when the driver arrived at 8:30 a.m. and looked at the damage to the sport utility vehicle he called police, Rangeley Chief Dennis Leahy said.
Police found that the GMC had about $8,000 damage, Leahy said.
Victoria Jipson, 40, of Rangeley was traveling south on Manor Woods Drive off Route 4, slid on ice at the intersection of Manor Drive and then slid into the woods and hit a few trees, Leahy said.
She walked home from the accident, which occurred about 12:30 a.m., he said, but didn’t report it to police.
Jipson is charged by summons with driving without insurance, operating after suspension and failure to report an accident, Leahy said.
She was not injured, he said.
