JAY – The tri-town Independence Day Parade and celebration steps off at 5 p.m. Thursday, July 3, at Memco’s parking lot on Main Street.
The parade lineup is at 4 p.m., an organizer, Pat Knowlton, said Monday.
Besides floats and part of the Shriner’s organization, there will be vendors up and down the road as parade participants march from Jay into Livermore Falls down Main and Depot streets.
Matt and The Barnburners plan to set up in front of the Jay war memorial in Chisholm Square and will be playing before and during the parade, Knowlton said.
“Townspeople take part in the celebration,” she said. “It’s going to be great.”
There will also be a special presentation with the firefighter.
Following the parade, there is a chicken barbecue at the VFW Post 3335 at the corner of Route 133 and Jewell Street in Jay, Knowlton said.
The Silver ‘n Gold Band is expected to perform from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Livermore Falls gazebo.
Fireworks will be launched from Spruce Mountain at dusk. A fireworks rain date has been set for Saturday, July 5, said Bonnie Perkins, administrative assistant for the Jay, Livermore, Livermore Falls Chamber of Commerce.
“It’s going to be a lot of fun,” Knowlton said.
