LIVERMORE FALLS – A Wayne man’s leg cramped up Tuesday morning, causing the truck he was driving to hit the front of Pike’s Corner Oasis on Route 133, resulting in some damage, police said.
The Ford Ranger driven by Jameson Reynold, 66, dented the wall of the building near an electrical conduit bank and knocked shelves and items on them in the kitchen area onto the floor, breaking some.
A witness said Reynold’s truck wasn’t traveling fast when it entered the parking lot from the highway, but he did hear the engine revving soon after, police officer Steve Allen said.
Reynold said his leg cramped-up and the truck hit the building and bounced back, Allen said.
Reynold was checked by a NorthStar ambulance crew and was able to drive home.
There was minimal damage, if any, to the truck, Allen said.
Store owner Charlie Barker of Leeds was concerned about the electrical lines, Allen said.
Assistant Fire Chief Marvin Parker said he was concerned about the propane pipes that lead into the building.
When firefighters arrived, the propane line was at least eight feet away from where the truck hit, and ran down the left side of the building, Parker said.
Barker, of Leeds, said there was a mess inside the store that had to be cleaned and there were some glass coffee pots and bowls.
“I’m sorry, sir,” Reynold said to Barker as the two stood out front.
“Well, I know that,” Barker told him.
Reynold got into his truck and prepared to leave.
“I’m fine. Just fine. A little nervous that’s all,” Reynold said, when asked if he was OK.
