LIVERMORE FALLS – A state fire investigator is probing a fire of “suspicious” origin that erupted late Sunday on a porch at 14 and 16 Millett St., fire Chief Ken Jones said Tuesday.

Firefighters were called to the scene about 11:52 p.m. after a woman reported a porch on fire and possibly spreading into the basement of the apartment building, Jones said.

The fire was extinguished prior to firefighters arriving, Jones said, and upon further investigation the fire appeared to be suspicious.

It was turned over to state fire investigator Chris Stanford of the Office of State Fire Marshal, Jones said.

Stanford was unavailable for comment Tuesday.
