FARMINGTON – Titcomb Mountain will open for the season on Saturday with a base of natural and manmade snow under the 11 inches received in Sunday’s storm.
Trails are in good shape, said Karleen Andrews, Titcomb’s manager on Tuesday. Snow was made over a 14-hour period Thursday and again for eight hours on Saturday to add to the 16 inches of snow already received in December, she said.
The man-made snow, because of the water content, packs down better, she added. That, mixed with the earlier snow, has created a good base.
Both cross-country and downhill skiing trails will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The day will begin with a pancake and sausage breakfast served from 8 to 10 a.m. by ski club members, she said.
For the holiday and school vacation week, hours at the slope will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The slope will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday and closed Tuesday for Christmas.
The slopes reopen from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Friday next week and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 29 and 30.
Hours will be shortened to 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, but the slopes will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on New Year’s Day.
Discounts on ticket prices will be available for consecutive day skiing, Andrews said. Full day alpine rates range from $20 for juniors to $24 for adults and $14 to $17 for half-days.
Nordic trail passes range from $9 for juniors and $12 for adults.
