AUBURN — Adam Lee was elected to the City Council Ward 4 seat Tuesday.
The ward includes the neighborhoods of Fairview and Sherwood Heights elementary schools.
Lee, who served on the council from 2013-15, ran unopposed for the vacant seat. Unofficial returns Tuesday showed he received 139 votes. There were also five write-in votes.
The opening was created when Ernestine “Tina” Gilbert announced her resignation in December because she moved from her home in Ward 4.
After the city announced the special election, Lee attended every council meeting.
Lee, 37, is an attorney at Trafton, Matzen, Belleau & Frenette and has been heavily involved in the Auburn community. He is a longtime mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Androscoggin County, and has served on the board of directors of the Lewiston Education Fund, volunteered at the Auburn YMCA, and has helped judge and coach the Edward Little High School speech and debate team.
After the official results are certified, Lee is expected to be sworn in at the next City Council meeting June 19. He said that he’s excited to get to work.
“There is substantial work remaining to be done on this year’s budget,” he said. “I am focused on that and on representing the residents of Ward 4 at the June 19 council meeting.”
