LIVERMORE – Selectpersons made several annual reappointments Monday, including Wayne Atwood as the town’s animal control officer. That decision followed a brief executive session with Atwood.

Some residents complained to the board at a recent meeting about Atwood’s handling of dog complaints.

The board also reviewed 17 qualifying applications for the $1,000 Augustus Pollard Scholarship that annually goes to a Livermore resident continuing education in college.

The board asked Livermore Falls resident Cora Briggs to draw a name out of a container.

The name pulled was Jacob Landry, a junior at the University of Maine in Orono studying technology. He is the son of Ken and Donna Landry.

Selectpersons also awarded low bidder Garrett Lovewell of Lovewell Logging and Excavation of Livermore a contract to install a septic system through a grant program, selectpersons’ Administrative Assistant Kurt Schaub said.

Lovewell’s bid was one of four received. The highest was $8,900.

Lovewell bid $5,900 plus an additional $1,500 if a pumping station was required, Schaub said.

Schaub also notified the board that a telecommunications tower is being proposed for 203 Waters Hill Road at the Calvin Gammon residence at the top of the hill.

Planning Board members are scheduled to discuss the matter after a public hearing at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, at the town office on a subdivision modification.
