FARMINGTON – The Farmington Police Department will host a free informational session designed to better prepare local businesses for dealing with and preventing robberies.
In “Security: How to Protect Your Business and Prepare Your Employees,” police officers will guide businesses in how to protect their establishments from employee theft, prevent a robbery and prepare employees for a robbery. In addition, the session will help businesses understand what they can expect from the Police Department, should any of these events occur.
The program, which is sponsored by Franklin Savings Bank, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, at the Farmington Town Office. There will be coffee, light refreshments and door prizes.
“There are many measures and practices a business can use to make their business unattractive to potential thieves. We would like to see more business owners take these steps so that they do not become victims,” Detective Marc Bowering said.
“Being prepared for a robbery makes a tremendous difference. It increases the likelihood of a safe outcome for employees and the successful prosecution of the perpetrators,” said Dee LaPlant, vice president of customer service and the security officer at Franklin Savings Bank, who has experienced a robbery firsthand. “Proper training and awareness is vitally important.”
The program is free and seating is limited. Respond by contacting LaPlant at Franklin Savings Bank at 778-3339 ext. 1211.
