JAY – A Jay man faces trafficking in cocaine charges after drug agents and police executed a search warrant at his home at 757 Main St. in North Jay. Police seized 54 grams of powdered cocaine and 25 grams of crack cocaine, a Maine Drug Enforcement Agency supervisor said.
Bryan E. Walker, 44, was arrested on two charges of unlawful trafficking in schedule W drugs – one count for powdered cocaine and the other for cocaine-base, also known as crack, MDEA Special Agent Gerry Baril said.
Walker was also arrested on a violation of bail charge related to a cocaine trafficking charge in December in Lewiston, Baril said.
Walker was indicted on that charge by the Androscoggin County grand jury on March 6, and he was arrested in Jay that evening.
Jay police and Franklin County Sheriff deputies assisted the MDEA in the case.
The street value of the confiscated drugs is estimated at $5,400 for the powdered cocaine and $100 per half-gram of the crack cocaine, Baril said.
A digital scale with cocaine residue and a bottle of powdered cutting agent were also seized in the search, Baril said.
The Franklin County case is expected to go before a grand jury the next time it meets, Baril said.
