WILTON – A Wilton man was arrested Monday on charges related to the recent theft of two snowmobiles from a Weld Road property.

Jeffrey B. Johnson, 39, of Main Street in Carthage and Village View in Wilton, was arrested by Officer Robert Cole at about 3:45 p.m Monday and charged with receiving stolen property, according to a department press release. He was also charged with violations of conditions of release in reference to an earlier charge unrelated to the snowmobiles.

The two snowmobiles were discovered missing from a Weld Road property last week. Both were found on Friday. One was located at a Main Street, Carthage, residence, according to a press release.

Police say Johnson was the main focus of their investigation after locating the Carthage snowmobile, according to the press release. He was spotted by an off-duty officer and arrested shortly after by Cole, who was assisted by Detective Tom White of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, and a Maine Drug Enforcement Agency agent.
