JAY – “Pretty girls, funny clowns, lovely acrobats and a juggler will entertain you today,” said the ringmaster at the circus in Jay on Saturday. “The circus is the oldest form of entertainment,” he said.

There were pony rides, cotton candy and lots of acts to watch.

Paulo, a 10-year-old juggler, performed for the audience by juggling hats, cones and fire, all while skipping and dancing around the ring.

Candi, a 14-year-old girl from Jay, said, “Since it’s the first circus I’ve ever been to, I think its pretty good.”

During a 15-minute intermission halfway through the show, children could ride ponies in the ring, get their faces painted by a clown, and get their photos taken with a python wrapped around them.

When asked if he was afraid of snakes, Nathaniel said, “I like reptiles.”

Dee Robinson showed no fear of the snake. “My girlfriend had a 6-foot python in high school. I’ve handled snakes before,” she said.

A portion of the ticket sales will be used by the town of Jay to purchase a street clock.
