FARMINGTON – A Eustis man was arrested after he pulled a gun on a bouncer at the Front Street Tavern, according to police.
An employee refused to allow Shawn Lord, 22, to enter the bar Saturday night because he was “highly intoxicated,” said Farmington Detective Marc Bowering on Monday.
After attempting several times to gain entry, Lord pulled out a handgun and said, “I’m going to kill you,” Bowering said. Two employees wrestled the gun away from him and held him until police arrived a short time later.
According to Wilton police records, it was not the first time Lord used the Glock .40-caliber that day. Around 5 p.m. Saturday, Lord had brandished the gun outside Food City while talking with a man who, on Sunday, filed a theft complaint against him, according to those records.
After purchasing liquor at the Main Street supermarket, Lord had negotiated rent for a bogus apartment in Eustis with the man who lodged the theft complaint. The man had given Lord $200 cash toward $300 rent, according to Wilton police officer Terry Warren. He said Lord showed the would-be tenant the firearm and told him “he best have the remaining $100 by Friday.” After the victim noticed that Lord had given him three different names, he went to police.
A resident of Munson Road in Wilton also called police saying that Lord had been at her home at about 5:30 p.m. with the gun, which she took from him but returned to him before he left. The woman called police Sunday morning saying she did not want to file charges.
Lord was apprehended around 10 p.m. Saturday night at the tavern, where he had threatened the bouncer. Farmington police took him to Franklin Memorial Hospital for treatment of a minor cut on his forehead, which he sustained during the altercation.
He was then taken to Franklin County Jail, where he was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, criminal threatening and possession of a firearm in a licensed liquor establishment. Wilton police summoned him Sunday on a charge of theft of the $200 cash, which they recovered; Officer Warren said there may be more charges pending. Lord was released Monday morning on $1,500 cash, according to a correctional officer.
