FARMINGTON – With 23 inches of snow this month, Titcomb Mountain Ski Slope is preparing events and free children’s activities for February school vacation.
Conditions are good for cross country and downhill skiing, according to slope management. Some planned events include:
• Saturday, Feb. 19: Middle school races; Alpine at 9 a.m., Nordic at 1 p.m.
• Sunday, Feb. 20: Maine Alpine Race Association; Alpine at 9 a.m., Nordic 1 p.m.
• Monday, Feb. 21: Children’s obstacle course, 1 p.m.
• Tuesday, Feb. 22: Face painting from 10 a.m. to noon
• Wednesday, Feb. 23: Ski-polo starting at 10:15 a.m.
• Friday, Feb. 25: Radar race at 1 p.m., snowboard dual race at 2:30 p.m., bonfire at 6 p.m., torchlight parade at 7 p.m.
• Saturday, Feb. 26: Dartmouth race at 1 p.m.
Weekend lift hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hours on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Openings remain for adults 13 and over this coming week in the Learn to Ski/Ride packages. The package includes a one-hour clinic, a beginner trail access ticket, and rentals for $20 per person.
Private lessons are also available for $15 per hour, excluding lift ticket and rentals. Participants are asked to call 24 hours in advance to reserve either private or Learn to Ski/Ride lessons.
Nordic trails will be open daily, with 17 kilometers of trails groomed daily for classic and skate skiing.
