 Connie and Willie Cameron

AUBURN — Willie and Connie Cameron of the Villages, Fla., were honored at two separate 50th wedding anniversary parties.

The couple was married in Lewiston on July 11, 1959, and they have two children, Cindy A. Cameron and Brian M. Cameron. Another son, Scott, at the age of 26, was killed in a car accident in 1988, but was able to donate six of his organs, including his heart.

In December of 2000, the Camerons moved from Auburn to Ormond Beach, Fla., both getting licensed in real estate with Adams Cameron and Co. Realtors. They are both licensed in Maine (Worden Realty) and Florida. Later they moved to the Villages, where they now reside in the village of Springdale.

Joe and Yolande, sister and brother of the guests of honor, and David and Rachel Pitman, Mr. Cameron’s sister of Deland, hosted an outdoor event with three by six signs of congratulations and the number “50.” Attending were Ray and Jeanne Lebel of the Villages, Jenny Bilodeau of Brooksville, Larry Cameron of Casselberry, Suzette Schepers and David and Ray Bilodeau, all of Brooksville.

A large anniversary cake and homemade food was served. The couple received several gifts.

The second party was held and hosted by their children, Cindy and Brian, with Becky Hunter assisting and was held in Poland Spring. A New England lobster feast was enjoyed, along with a double layer anniversary cake with real pink roses. The cake bottom was a carrot cake and the top was a lemon and raspberry cake.

The day was spent in 88-degree sunny weather on Brian’s new 15×20 deck overlooking Middle Range Pond. Then came the rain, as it did on July 11, 1959. Various baskets of flowers and roses were featured throughout the inside and outside, surrounding the deck. Special friends of Brian, Al and Shirley Jordan, picked up the couple and toured the waterways on a sunny afternoon. Snacks were served aboard and many jumped off the boat to swim.

Attending were Sean Morin of Portland and Nicole Cameron of Sabattus, grandchildren of the guests of honor, Chris Breau of Sabattus, Joe and Yolande Cameron, Amanda Hunter and friend of Brunswick and Kyle Ouellette of Portland.

The couple received many memorable gifts and money. Their children put together a video of the “Cameron Family,” beginning with their honeymoon throughout their 50 years.
