FARMINGTON — In observance of national Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Franklin Community Health Network Foundation Office is sponsoring a weekly raffle in October to support the Beck Challenge. The challenge fund provides free postoperative garments to patients of the Martha B. Webber Breast Center who undergo surgical breast procedures.

According to organizer Julie Sexton, each week will have a specific theme with raffle goodies packaged in handmade baskets. The themes are: sports week, go big with a small budget, you gotta love Maine week, Halloween and winter is coming.

Every $25 raised provides a garment for a woman undergoing a procedure such as a breast biopsy or mastectomy. The post-surgery garments are lightweight and come in all sizes. If a patient needs additional surgery the garment can be reused.

Each weekly raffle prize basket will be on display in the hospital lobby and tickets can be purchased at the gift shop at Franklin Memorial Hospital. Prices are $5 for three tickets, $7 for five and $20 for 15 chances. Drawings will take place at 3 p.m. Fridays in October

For more information contact Julie Sexton at 779-2750 or by e-mail at [email protected].
