MEXICO — The following incidents were handled recently by the Mexico Police Department.

Accident

A tire falling off a 1989 Ford pickup truck driven by Kody L. Whittemore, 18, York Street, Rumford, at 9:44 p.m., Sept. 18, caused $3,100 damage to two vehicles, as well as several hundred dollars in damage to a window and porch. Whittemore was driving south along the Swift River Road when the tire came off. It rolled across a lawn into a mobile home window, then bounced off the top and hood of a parked 1999 Toyota SUV at the home of Bobby J. Bushie, 43, Swift River Road, causing $3,000 damage to the SUV and $600 damage the window and porch. Whittemore’s truck sustained $100 damage.

Arrest

Joshua Messier, 25, Waldo Street, Rumford, operating without a license, at 11:17 p.m. Sept. 26 on the Swift River Road. Messier was released from the Mexico Police Department on $1,000 unsecured bail. He is scheduled to appear in Rumford District Court on Dec. 8.

Burglaries

A Chase Avenue resident reported at 9:54 a.m. Sept. 22 that someone entered her home and stole a variety of home furnishings, including televisions, a vacuum cleaner, speakers and other household goods, valued at $1,500. Police have several suspects.

An Angie Lane resident reported at 7:17 p.m. Sept. 22 that someone had forcibly entered his mobile home sometime the previous weekend and stole an X360 box and several video games valued at $300. The property was later recovered. An arrest is expected soon.

A neighbor of a Carlton Avenue resident reported a burglary in progress at the nearby home at 10:28 p.m. Sept. 18. The neighbor yelled at the man and woman in the home, who then fled on foot. Police have suspects.
