LEWISTON – Jacqueline Ann Jewell, 61, a resident of Academy Road, Litchfield, died Thursday, May 14, at Central Maine Medical Center, as a result of injuries suffered in an automobile accident in Winthrop.

She was born Sept. 1, 1947, the daughter of George L. Ridley Sr. and Rowena (Danforth) Ridley. She graduated from Monmouth Academy in 1966.

On Aug. 17, 1968, at the Litchfield Congressional Church, she married her high school sweetheart, Harold L. Jewell Sr. She worked as a babysitter for family and friends in the area.

She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Litchfield and recently joined the American Legion Auxiliary in Litchfield. She was a devoted and loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother and friend and will be deeply missed by those who knew her.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Harold L. Jewell Sr. of Litchfield; her mother, Rowena Ridley of Winthrop; one daughter, Rebecca Matias and her husband, Max, of Kingston, N.Y.; one son, Harold L. Jewell Jr. and his wife, Julie, of Jacksonville, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Jorge and Daniel Celpa, Hannah and Alex Matias, Jeffrey Lozano and Tristan, Lindsay and Brendan Jewell; a brother, George Ridley Jr. and his wife, Denise, of Hamden, Mass.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Beverly Caron and her husband, Bob, of Topsham and Timothy Jewell and his wife, Claire, of Poland; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

She was predeceased by her father, George L. Ridley Sr.; and a brother, Gerald Ridley.
