HARRISON – Jeannette A. Pike-Leavitt, 89, a 60-year resident of Bolsters Mills Village, Harrison, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 22, at her home with her family by her side.

She never stopped smiling through her battle with Alzheimer’s. She was a devoted mother and wife with a warm and kind soul. It was a labor of love working in her multiple flower beds. She enjoyed nature, especially watching and feeding the birds. She was an avid reader and loved accomplishing the daily crossword puzzle. Her greatest joy was gathering every Sunday afternoon with her children and grandchildren for family dinners or cookouts, with “exciting” backyard badminton tournaments.

She was born in Norway on Oct. 30, 1919, the daughter of Guy and Myra (Haggett) Stevens. She attended Norway High School, where she graduated in 1937. Deciding to become a secretary, she went to Bliss College, where she attained her degree.

She worked for the David A. Klain Insurance Agency in Norway for several years, before she met and married the love of her life, D. (Dennis) Wayne Pike, May 7, 1944. Together they raised five children, two boys, Timothy and Richard, twin girls, Jean and Joan and another daughter, Jane.

She spent many joyous hours raising her family and watching many of the neighborhood children as she was a “stay at home” mom that many children depended upon for the peanut butter sandwich for lunch.

After losing her husband, Wayne in 1965, she then had to learn how to drive and go back to work. She again pursued her career as a secretary, working for the town of Harrison as a clerk, until retirement in 1975. While working at the town office, she met a gentleman, Wilfred Leavitt, a tax assessor for the town of Eliot and they married in 1976. Together they enjoyed gardening and renovating the family home.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 82, Bolsters Mills Ladies Guild and the Bolsters Mills United Methodist Church, which she faithfully supported and attended. She was a quiet person, never without a smile or a laugh, who was giving, kind, and strong, a legacy to pass on to others. With the dedication of unlimited love, compassion and caring, she was cared for in her home by her son, Tim and daughter-in-law, Donna, granddaughter, Dawn Kimball, Donna’s sister, Marilyn Martin, granddaughter, Greta Seamon and the Personal Touch Agency from Lewiston.

She will be greatly missed by her son, Timothy Pike and his wife, Donna, of Harrison; son, Richard Pike of Port Chester, N.Y.; daughter, Jean Seamon and her husband, David, of Poland; daughter, Joan Pike of Harrison; daughter, Jane Huntsman and her husband, Bill, of Ohio; grandchildren, Wayne Pike and his wife, Callie, of California, Dawn Kimball and her husband, Curtis, stationed in Germany, Sara Belanger and her husband, Archie, of Harrison, Greta Seamon of Harrison and Noelle Wright of Harrison; great-grandchildren, Keenan, Evan, Curtis III, Hailey and Carter, three of which she was proud to hold.
