LEWISTON – Lorraine D. Hatch, 81, of College Street, Lewiston, died Wednesday, March 11, at Central Maine Medical Center.

She was born in Malden, Mass., on July 23, 1927, the daughter of the late Edwin and Verna (Baker) Karston. She married the love of her life, Robert W. Hatch in 1947 in Melrose Mass., and spent the ensuing years raising her family.

In the 1950s, she did live commercials on WMTW-TV for Modene Paint. She also took great pride, during this period, in teaching Charm School at Peck’s Department Store. She with her husband Bob, were active members within the Bates College community and she enjoyed supporting his Bates College football team.

She was a voracious reader and loved playing bridge. She enjoyed playing golf and was a longtime member of Martindale Country Club.

She leaves her husband of 61 years, Bob Hatch of Lewiston; two daughters, Lynda Letteney and her husband, Jim, of Waldoboro and Karen Long and her husband, Dave, of Stoneham Mass.; a son, Mike Hatch and his wife, Cynthia, of Gilmanton, N.H.; and three grandchildren, Jimmy Letteney, Julie Hatch and Karston Long.

She was predeceased by a stepbrother, Gus Karston.
