SOUTH PARIS – Carolyn Brown-Trask, 83, of South Paris died Friday, June 13, at the Market Square Health Care Center after a brief illness.

She was born on July 17, 1924, in Spartanburg, S.C., to William R. and Helen C. McGraw. She graduated from Spartanburg High School in 1941, and graduated from Spartanburg General Hospital School of Nursing in 1943.

She met Harold W. Brown Jr. when he was stationed at Camp Croft Army Base in Spartanburg and they were married in 1943. After 26 year of marriage, he passed away in June 1969. She later married Floyd E. Trask in 1978.

She was a licensed practical nurse, a licensed nursing home administrator, and a licensed real estate broker. She was proud of her nursing career. She was one of the first nurses hired when Stephens Memorial Hospital opened its hospital on lower Main Street in Norway. After retiring from the nursing profession, she worked with her husband Floyd (Zeke) in the real estate business for more than 20 years.

She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church of Norway.

She is survived by her husband, Zeke of South Paris; sons, Harold Brown III and wife, Cynthia, of Lithonia, Ga., William Brown and wife, Louise Grant, of Oxford and Craig Brown of Auburn; stepsons, David l. Trask of Bridgton, Barrett K. Trask and wife, Jenny, of Manchester, N.H., and Dana E. Trask who predeceased her; grandchildren, Robyn Savage of Buckfield, Christopher Mawhinney of South Paris, Elizabeth Beverly of Loganville, Ga., and Tara Carolyn Brown of South Paris; and great-grandchildren, Montana and Sydney Mawhinney of South Paris.

She and her family were very grateful to Market Square Health Care for the fine care that was given to Carolyn during her time there. A special thanks to Dr. James Eshelman for his kindness during Carolyn’s illness.
