Farmington – Louise Butler Huart Ware, 98, of Farmington died Monday, May 22, at Franklin Memorial Hospital.
She was born Aug. 14, 1907, in Stricklands Ferry, the daughter of Ralph and Murian (Strout) Butler. She graduated from Livermore Falls High School in 1923 and from the Maine School of Commerce in Auburn in 1925.
She moved to Farmington upon her graduation. She was at the ground-breaking and worked at Maine Dowel in Farmington, later working at Morton Motors and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Extension Service. She was also a roving clerk for the Maine District Court and later became the Registrar of Deeds in 1968.
In 1928 she married Victor C. Huart, longtime fire chief and barber in Farmington. Victor died in 1951. They had two children, Constance and Richard. In 1954 she married Clifford G. Ware and they made their home in Brockton, Mass. They moved back to Maine in 1965, living in various towns until he died in 1982, and she moved back to Farmington.
She was a member of the Biggest Bucks in Maine Club. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, redecorating homes, and refinishing furniture. She was known by many as “Grammie” and was a major influence in the lives of her children and grandchildren as nobody ever wanted to disappoint her. Her influence will continue to be felt.
She is survived by one daughter, Constance H. Small and her husband, Harold, of Phillips; one son, Richard B. Huart and wife, Nancy, of West St. Paul, Minn.; six grandchildren, Stephen Cutler and (Arlene Dalrymple) of Farmington, Lynda Louise Haskell (Lawrence Roberts) of New Vineyard, Lisa M. Dougherty of West St. Paul, Minn., Karen Louise Walsh (Brian) of Mechanicsburg, Pa., David W. Huart (Jennifer) of Plymouth, Minn. and Anne M. Huart of West St. Paul, Minn.; seven great-grandchildren, Tiffany Haskell, D. Christopher Norton, Amy Louise Thompson, Angie Cutler, Michael and Caitlin Dougherty, and John Walsh; four great great-grandchildren, Brandyn and Madecyn Cutler, Izack Enman, and Kaya Cutler; one brother, Robert M. Butler of Vinalhaven; and several nieces and nephews.
