Jay – Lawrence “Larry” Gallant, 63, a resident of Jay died very unexpectedly Sunday, April 9, at his home.

He was born on April 3, 1943, in Jay, the son of Isadore J. and Rita (Groleau) Gallant and was a 1961 graduate of Jay High School. In 1997, he married the former Rebecca Davis.

He had worked for Pioneer Plastics in Auburn, retiring due to ill health. Larry was very musical, having played guitar, keyboard and also singing. He was a member of several local bands that played in area clubs when he was younger. He taught his children to play guitar when they were very young.

The family looked forward to the times everyone would have fun making up recordings of scary or silly stories with the sound effects. He also enjoyed collecting Halloween costumes and masks over the years and always displayed several outside of his home for people to smile at and enjoy during the Halloween season, also building other interesting items outside with materials found around his home.

His pastimes included fishing, making snow sculptures and going to the ocean. The most important thing that he passed down to his children was for all to have a good sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca of Jay; a son, Todd Gallant and his wife, Lisa, of Jay; a daughter, April and her husband, Duane Trask, of North Jay; four grandchildren, Zack, Shane, Austin and Deaken; a great-granddaughter, Avalyn; two stepsons, Jim and Mike Giroux; and his aunts.

He was predeceased by a son, Shawne; and sisters, Louise Williams, Arlene Grover and Sonia Manning.
