MECHANIC FALLS – Harold Arthur Nay, 81, of North Street, passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 12, at his home.

He was born on June 27, 1924, in Mechanic Falls, the ninth child of Samuel Eben Nay and Lillias (Howard) Nay.

He married the late Norma Verrill on March 31, 1945. Later in life, on June 27, 1969, he married the late Laura Newton Yeaton.

He attended Mechanic Falls schools, served in the U.S. Army and served in the Mechanic Falls Fire Department. Over the years, he worked at various mills, Agassiz Village Summer Camp and was a woodsman.

He loved hunting, fishing and camping with his family and friends.

He is survived by his son, Clark Nay and his wife, Samra, of Mechanic Falls; son, Warren Nay of Auburn; stepdaughter, Marlene Roy and husband, Raymond, of West Paris; stepson, David Yeaton and his wife, Wanita, of Mechanic Falls; stepdaughter, Barbara Barton and her husband, Thomas “Dick,” of Brandenton, Fla.; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

He was predeceased by brothers, Fred, Clarence and Frank Nay; and sisters, Mildred Cotton, Ella Jones, Thelma Turner, Edith Raymond and Edna Newton.
