FARMINGTON – Michael Edward Kidd, 39, of New Vineyard, went to be with his Savior who loved him, on Saturday, Nov. 12. He was a patient at Franklin Memorial Hospital where he fought a short battle against cancer with courage, smiles and great spirit.

Mike was born in Needham, Mass., on April 13, 1966, the fourth child of Dinah L. (Howard) and David W. Kidd II. He attended schools in Farmington and graduated from Mt. Blue High School in 1984.

He loved the outdoors, as he worked as a woodsman and enjoyed walking in the woods to watch the sunset. He was an enthusiastic hunter and fisherman. Mike was very much a handyman as well. He plowed snow and was always helping people. He was in no way materialistic and cared more about people than things. He especially had a great love for children.

He served his community as a well-respected member of the New Vineyard Volunteer Fire Department for almost 20 years.

He married Sherrie Hastings of Chesterville on August 17, 1991. Following their divorce, they remained friends.

He will be greatly missed by his parents of New Vineyard; his daughter, Cassandra (Casey), and his son, Michael Jr., both of Chesterville; his brother, David and wife, Suzanne, of Strong; his four sisters and their husbands, Susan and Tim Lambert, Kathy and Chip Hinds, all of New Vineyard, Marjorie and Craig Tardif of Hartford, and Karen and Joseph Cox of Quincy, Mass; his grandmother, Marjorie Howard of New Vineyard; special friends, Shannon Allen and her son, Jonathan Ross, of Strong; his faithful dog, Bud; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, David and Sarah Kidd, and Raymond Howard.

Mike would want everyone to know of the blessings of God’s love, mercy, peace and grace that he experienced during his illness, and would want to encourage everyone to live healthy lives.
